is it possible to install airbags in a car that is not equiped with any. driver and pass. the car is a 90 hatch. also does anyone have the wiring diagram for a 90 si hatch. thanks!

is it possible? yes. should you do it? no.

Cars that have air bags are designed around that function, I.E. certain crumple zones, retention device on seatbelt, etc. Also the sensors and brain are setup for that car, if you change the length of wiring, location of sensor or any other variable you change the dynamic of the srs system. Any shop manual on cars with airbags will tell you the first thing to do when working on the cars electrical system is to disconnect the airbags, why???? because any stray current can cause the airbags to go off, it can be a touchy situation. Then there is the legal ramifications, you installing a system like airbags on a car not designed for it and someone gets hurt as a result of anything that can be connected to the airbags and you get sued. Some auto shops won't do seat swaps unless it is with the oem spec seats because of the design meets safety issue. my advice if you really want them, trade your car for a 92 hatch they already have srs.

 

yea i think im gonna move up to a newer hatch soon.

 

My 94 CX hatch has no airbags. I took the airbag out of my friends S14 and the thing weighed like 15-20 pounds.
