have a timing problem

Default have a timing problem

ok i just put a y8 head on and when the crank and cam gear is at tdc the dizzy is not pointing the right way. it wont line up.. also there is 0 compression.. does anyone have a idea what the problem might be?

sounds to me like timing,if also if no compression check to make sure all the valves rockers are adjusted

there are all adjusted right and open and close right. if spun by the crank everything spins right but no compression.

did yiou make sure the number one cyl. was at tdc when you lined up the cam

Did you have the head checked & is there zero compression accross the board? What block and belt combo?

yea 0 all the way across mike. didnt have it checked taking it off no to check it. it is a d16a1 block.

did you use the y8 headgasket? . If you are using a d15 block you cam timing will be off half a tooth if you use a vtec head. are you using a aftermarket cam gear? if so retard the cam gear 1/2 a degree. are you using pre obd injectors. also what distributor are you using? if you could fill us in with a little more info. the mini me's are very direct swap if you are using all the right parts.

it is a d16 block. i was using a z6 cam gear. wasnt sure if was intrechangable but it fit the key so i just tried it. i believe its a y8 dizzy. im not positive. i have to check.

the cam timing is retarded 4 degrees if you use the z6 cam gear that your problem use the z6 cam gear. iam sure there is a way to make it work just havent done it at all. iam not going to advise you to try it one gear retarded but it might work never did it though. the right way would be to use the right gear.
