iam with everyone else on this porting the head with stock cams and stock compression can acually hurt you. sometimes less is more. if your ports are too big the air wont have enough velocity to enter or escape through the ports due to the fact that you are not pushing or pulling any more air then before but you have a larger diameter area to push it through you will most likely lose power untill you up the amount of air or boom happening in the engine

I have a PnP Z6 head and intake and when i put the head on(stock Z6bottom) i noticed a power loss. Still have my stock 88DX exhaust. Hope a better exhaust and tuneing will help me some.

for a b16 it has nice compression and rev power so better higher lift cams a exhust are the best easiest ways for more power..then next add some ctr pistons arp bolts better valve springs and clutch

upgrade the head(springs retainers, cams...ect) first. and when you build the bottom end then p&p the head. that way you dont have to remove it twice. and you prolly wont be getting it retuned after each extra mod, right?

you will not lose power because of the air not having enough power to get it. it will have plenty of suck power. they problem is that the air will be going in faster than the stock ecu "thinks" it is (since it measures pressure not air flow) and thus throwing off your a/f, and decreasing power. probably by noticable amounts since a good p&p will make a BIG differance in flow.`

I have read where when vtec engauges it does take a second to be fully functional. your going from one cam profile to another and doing so you change the amount of air entering and exiting the cylinders. this won't happen in an instant.

As far as porting goes I put a Z6 ported on my stock Z6 block about a weekago. At first it was very lazy almost like the stock DPFI. I thought I made a big mistake. I was told advanced my timeing about 20 deg. and it was like driveing a new car. fuel milage had droped considerably and idle bounces few hundred rpm at idle but my need to adjust the AF screw.
