Closer to the ECM the better. It works on impedence. You want a slow non irratic signal. Find the signal wire into the ECM. if you need the plug and pin PM me ill get you the info for your car.
also if you tap directly to the o2 sensor the extra wire could throw off the signal and give your ecu false readings...which is bad
but that doens't even get to the point that you just bought a light show...if you want a real a/f guage get a wideband

Well yes and no. Your correct on how it converts it, but why do you think it tells you to hook it on the ECM side of ANY plugs ? A plug is huge resistance. The Autometer gauge needs the closest to the ECM signal it can get. the ECM can adjust for the wire length "impedence" it knows how to adjust for the loads. The Autometer gauges doesnt. Without getting WAY into it. The closer to the ECM the better.
