Default ARP head studs , Yay or Nay.

Today , i jsut got thru disassembaling my motor and im going to send it off to the machine shop in the morning......While doing so , i came across ARP head studs .....(this was the first time i have actually tore down the motor) The motor is built 10-1 compression Cp's, forged rods Etc. But that is beside the point....My question is this...

Are the arp head studs worth it...IMO they are a FUCKING PAIN IN THE ASS. most of them the nuts came off fine....2 of them when the nut got to the top , the whole stud started coming out , and this is some gay shit Only ONE stud had a allen hole in the top so you could grip it And 2 of the washers were missing.

Like i said , to me they are a pain in the ass , but maybe the guy that built this motor put the wrong studs in or put them in wrong..Also the nut on top is a 12 point SAE 1/2 inch ...i dont get it....But i have never had experiance with them.

I was thinking of going with OEM head bolts....im going to be running a OEM piston ( ctr pistons ) w/ forged rods....somewhere arounf 12-1 comp ratio. so should i reuse them or NO?

No, dont reuse the OEM head studs, from what Ive read, when you torque them down, they stretch a little, so they will not be the same when you reuse them. Buy new ones, or buy the reinforced ARP head studs, got mine for like $80.00 off ebay!!

ARP are good but if you can't get them then use new honda bolts.

Werd.....it's not like i want to be a cheap ass and not spend the money ( because in order to go fast , u have to spend money)....well being that i already have them ....but to me they are a pain in the fucking ass....soo i should just bite the bullet and use them though? I was just going to go to honda and buy some new OEM gsr head bolts.

i would use the studs, if you want decent power you have to support it, i think it will be very much worth the trouble and time, im sure you will find that out in the long run.

yea...ummm. i really doubt are headbolts stretch considering there not torque to yield bolts......therefore you can resuse them. how many times im not sure but ive rebuilt a couple motors and my h22 is still getting her done with the stock headbolts.......woot woot....
