civic transmission question
alright, i'm looking at getting a beater and I have a few questions. Keep in mind that I'm a domestic guy and know nothing about civics. So today I went a test drove a car, fired up, sounded nice, engine sounded smooth. Pulled the oil cap and the valve train wasnt ticking or anything. When I took it out for a drive, i noticed the idle was like 1500 rpms. I attributed this to the car still being cold, but I dont know if this is normal. Second, when I would let off the gas and it down shifted, it jerked a little bit. I'm a manual guy, and this may be normal, but i figured that it would be smoother. Lastly, when I parked it the idle went way up, like 2,000 plus, and then I gave it a little gas and it came back down, then started jumping back up and falling, untill eventually staying at like 2500 rpms. this is a 4dr civic lx with 126,000 miles on it. Is this stuff going to be a pain down the line?

bad iac valve,(for the idle problem), lucky it shifts that good with that many miles on it ,it should be fine if the trans makes 100k mile then it should last
