Default 1992 Civic won't start

1992 Honda Civic D15 manual tranny,
Push starts and runs like a champ.
Hooked up another car to the Civic battery with jumper cables, still nothing. Battery seems fine, all other electronics work, cleaned battery terminals.

Pulled the starter, took it to Napa at Fowler & FL Ave, tested = fried.
Bought the re-manned starter, installed, tightened the connection, plugged the ground wire, still nothing. Exactly the same as with the fried starter.

The one fuse I found in the kick panel near the clutch pedal, called "Starter Signal" is fine, it is a 7.5 fuse.

I tested for power using a probe tool woth a ground and a light bulb in the handle, it lights up when I touch the starter solenoid terminal. Also, I had this re-manned starter tested, and it works fine on the machine.

I am going to replace the ground cable from the Negative terminal of the battery to near the strut tower, because it seems a little crusty, and I think a bad ground cable would make the jumper cables not work, and not supply enough juice to turn the starter...?

Other than that, Ive got nothing, Sorry for such a long post, thanks for any help any of you guys can give. I think it may be something really simple like the ground cable to the battery, or maybe a switch that the clutch hits to allow power to the starter??????

-Mike

you are getting power to the ground for the starter solnoid? When the key is turned? If not trace back to under the dash. Check for continutiy on the relay clutch interlock etc.. Have someone help you. One sit in the car and start it like normal. Test for power on the ground wire on the starter itself while turning the key. Sounds like though you already know what your doing. Iam sure you find your problem.

does it do nothing when you try and start it? have you tried jumping a wire from the (+) terminal to the starter(the little black wire)? if that works then its a fuse or a wire short. if not, could be a ground or somthing. eitherway if it works you can do that instead of push starting it. but dont forget to take it out of gear first or youll be sorry..hehe
