Default h22 tranny problem

i went to take the passenger side axle off on my car and to take the axle nut off i had to put it in gear. well that is the problem, when i put it in gear, it does not lock so i could take the axle nut off. the flywheel moves in gear, feeling like it was still in neutral. could it be the slave cylinder? if not, let me know, any suggestions?

i know i dont but i have changed the passenger side axle plenty of times and to lock it i put it in gear. its just confusing cuz this is like the 5th time i changed an axle and the problem occured now. when u dont have posi or lsd the passenger side is the one that supposed to lock.

either way a good solution is to either

a) use an impact gun or
b) put a pry bar inbetween the lugs and brace it against the frame, it should hold it while you break the nut loose.

sounds normal to me, use impact gun, have someone mash on the breaks while to take off or depending on your wheels, you may be able to put the wheel on, lower to the ground, remove center cap and then take the axle nut off. Let us know how it turns out.
