car idles too high

Default car idles too high

my car idles at 2500 what could the problem be? i have a b16 motor changed the intake manifold gasket it dropped from 3000 to 2500 changed the throttle body gasket it shot up to 3000 again try to adjust with the screw on the throttle body no good

vacum leak, check your IACV and all your gaskets one has a cut or is leaking.

vacume leak or the lines are not set up correctly. Search for the diagram, I know its on here somewhere.

What did you change just before the idle rose up to 2500/3000?
That might point the way as to what needs to be changed back.

that rpm is high sounds like you forgot to hook up eather your brakebooster hose or pcv hose

I had that same problem in my integra, I changes EVERYTHING out it could possibly be, and it ended up being a cracked manifold. I've never heard of a manifold cracking but mine did. Your best bet to start to hunt the problem down is to Loosen the throttle cable, see if that helps. then check for any vacuum leaks, of course thats going to make it idle high as hell. the only other thing i could tell you is what i had to do. I actually ended up having to make a cardboard throttle body gaskets that blocked off the iacv. Good luck -Ben
