Default supercharging gsr, need advice

i have a gsr with type r pistons and 270cc injectors

i ordered a non-aftercooled gsr supercharger from vortech.

would i encounter detonation issues without an aftercooler? if it does detonate, what would should i do? change it back to gsr pistons? add aftercooler? get a thicker headgasket?

the kit comes with new fuel pump, fmu and 310 injectors

i would suggest the use of the aftercooler, despite the fact that it does yield about 1 psi of pressure drop it drops temps down drastically, its very worth the money. if it is one thing i have been always searching to do, that is lower IATs and with a regular intercooler you can only get as low as regular ambient air, but with something like vortechs set up, you can get lower, as to water the temp of the liquid you are circulating.

with an after cooler, if you experience detonation, it is either from too much timing or not enough fuel, which could equate to a tuning issue, go with some kind of engine management and that will be cured with a good tuner.

as far as an FMU goes, i hate them, they are just a temporary band aid for disaster, go with some larger injectors, heck get some DSM 450s, they are cheap.

get someone to tune it and you will have anice running set up

i installed this set up on an 04 s2000, with aftercooler, runs great, and now hes getting AEM EMS
