Need some help. I was driving along at 75 mph and without any warning the car died. The check engine light came on. I have a fuel gauge mounted and it still read 40 psi. A friend said it sound like the dizzy went bad. Dose that sound right? The car was left behind in SC. I'll be towing it back this weekend. Any ideas on what it could be?

 

You would know if the dizzy died, it would have sputtered or something before it happened. Could possibly be the motor siezed, did you check for spark after it died? If not check that and then test the Main Relay. I know in hot weather they tend to go bad. Good luck - poke.

 

I check to see if the motor sized, It still rotates freely. I pulled off the dizzy cap and watched it move and marked the belts and watch them move also.
