Default GSR Problem

So last night when I was driving home, I was shifting from 2nd to 3rd (of course in VTEC) when I released the clutch the RPM Gauge dropped all the way down to 0 and the car made a nice popping noise (coulda been a backfire), and the car was still running. So I put the clutch back in and it idled like normal. When I got up this morning, I tried to start the car and it took a second to turnover but did, and has been like that since. I have a CEL which I checked and they are a 1 and 8. Anyone know what I should look at? All the hoses are connected, timing belt is still intact, everything looks the same.

Code 1 is the primary O2 sensor and Code 8 is the TDC (top dead center) sensor.

Are you positive that everything is plugged back in?? How old is the O2 sensor??

Yea, I have looked at it over and over and it is all connected. I am not sure how old the O2 sensor is, i bought the car 2 years ago and have not touched it.

Well there is no code 18, I checked hoping for something easy. But with codes #1 and 8, the error might be caused by a bad connection or a defective sensor.

TDC sensor is located inside of your distributor.
1st check your cap & rotor's condition & reset your ecu to see if the code comes back.
If it does, try installing another distributor which you know has no issues.

If this resolves your issue, replace your distributor with another unit.
