first step and cheapest is always to check and/or flush tranny fluid...

i was having a hard time shifting and it was shifting rough right before my clutch went out. i tried adjusting the pedal and i checked the fluid and it looked brand new so i figured i needed a new clutch. when i looked at the disc, one of the springs was all fucked up so yeah, that was it. put then new clutch kit in and everything was fine.
good luck!

something after you check the fluid would be the shifter "balls" there are two ball bearing type balls that the shift rod rides on, going into the tranny, they are pressured by a spring, sometimes the springs wear out causing the shift rod to have a little play, up and down and shifts get sloppy and dont want to go.

also my shift rod was bent, not that i shift my car hard or anything( i would NEVER do that:sarcasm)

or last but not leats synchros, go to gearspeed on the internet and order them, they are pretty cheap

they are called detent balls ,and they should not cause a hard shift, or grind if the spring was worn ,thay rearly would go bad

well mine went bad in my JDm gsR, and they seemed to be causing an issue with shifting, so i replaced them and all the above named parts, well jason did, and my tranny shifts perfect
