Lightbulb anyone ever thought of this?

i had a very strange dream the other night. well basically i took the turbine thing off of an air plane and made a smaller version of it. i then hooked it up with an intercooler and what not and had like a super turbo. the strange thing was that it spooled based on mph. when i hit 40mph it spooled non stop until i was done. what do you guys think of this? would this not make some kick ass forced induction shit. could this even be possible? let me know what you guys think. and yes i am serious.

i guess im not understanding. Turbine engines have been around for a very long time, Using a basic turbine engine is just not feasible for a commuter car.

If u are saying use the thrust from bassically a mini-jet engine as boost for a larger motor, this would not work. The reason being is a turbo charger forces more AIR into an engine, a Jet engine's "thrust" is made up mostly of burnt fuel and by-products, just like your exhaust on your car.

now you COULD use something like a turbine engine on one side, and then a compressor wheel on the other. Bassically would be a mini-turbine engine, driving a centrifugal supercharger....you could mount it exposed to air so that it increased in RPM as you increased with speed. BUT itd have to have its own fuel source, and itd be a complicated mess to achieve bassically the same thing as a turbo.

Hope this helped

thanx for the info. i didnt know that. but what i was saying is to basically use that same mini-turbine design so i sucks in massive loads of air into the motor. it would basically be a turbo kit but on a more aggressive level.
