Question Tiny cloud of smoke on startup. Weird...

Dunno what it is, but when I start the car a little cloud of smoke comes out, it is oil (blueish) and is actually very very annoying. I was thinking maybe the valve seals but it doesnt smoke one bit at idle, daily driving, or when I'm getting on it but only when I first start it.. What would cause this? Weird huh?

Check your plug seals first. If thats not it it might be the valve seals like you suspect.

this is pretty common. Its usually just worn out valve seals that are allowing oil to drip into the intake runners. It prolly does it while your driving too but u just dont notice. As long as u keep oil in it, and its not too bad, u should be ok. If it starts fouling out plugs and getting worse, id do a recon on the head

Yeah, I think I'm just going to rip the head apart and refresh everything along with finally putting my new valve springs and retainers in, do all new cam seals, valve seals, etc.

it would smoke all the time if its the valve guides. And the plug seals would not cause the mtoor to smoke

^^^ ::sighs:: if it wasnt a bad leak, oil would leak into the intake while the car was sitting and upon start up it would all go into the combustion chamber...and POOF smoke. Yes it would also be leaking while it was running, but if its minor you may not notice it
