Default Overheating

Anyone have any idea why my car is overheating? I have a 90 si hb with b16. Looked down at gauges yesterday and temp. was rising fast so i pulled over and the radiator overflow tank was overflowing. Wasnt a stuck gauge...this thing was hot. Also, the fan WAS working. So i checked my hoses and they were in pretty bad shape but didnt look like they were leakin. So I took out radiator , did entire coolant flush 50/50 and replaced the 2 hoses. Going to do thermostat today maybe its stuck closed??? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks. JT

hopefully that will solve your problem, if not, id say water pump, or maybe even headgasket

ok put in new thermo. and seems to be better, not overheating but the temp. is going up higher then normal (3/4). Not sure what the deal is but will check water pump and seals.

take out the thermostat and heat some water up to 180 the thermostat should open if it's working, if you don't have a temp gauge to check water temp, just boil water cause that 212 and if it doesn't open then you know it's bad. i've done it before adn know this way works.

oh ya and the reason for me having to get a new radiator was because my radiator was clogged, and also cause my condensor fan was not coming on...but i've also heard if u were driving your car pretty hard its most likely a water pump..but that's just what i hear..i dont know for sure..but hopefully its just as simple as it being your thermostat..good luck
