big misconception that because the H22 is a closed deck, and that it is strong, but if you really look most of your H22 set ups blow up way before B series do, h22s have been proven to die off early, closed deck or not.

best pistons IMO endyne roller waves!, good chunk of change but they sure can take some abuse!

h22's have fiber reinforced cylinder walls, very similar to the f20c. It would need to be sleeved to use aftermaket pistons.

it doesnt matter if its closed deck or not, the stock sleeves are made from FRM and i believe the wiescos are the only pistons that are coated and safe to run on the stock sleeves. but, there are still many people out there that are having problems with the wiescos on stock sleeves, but there are also plenty of people without problems. just to be safe, i would sleeve the motor. better to be safe than sorry.

also, do a search because we had a huge thread about this same subject already, also search on honda-tech.com because they have had many threads on the same subject.

yep, the h22a1 is closed deck, but that doesnt really have much to do with it, FRM is FRM. all H series motors, S2K motors and late model NSK motors have fiber reinforcedn metal sleeves aka FRM. FRM was used to keep the block size down, while providing structural rigidity to the cylinder sleeves since they were so close together. .

wiseco has developed a forged piston to run in FRM applications by using a coating on the ring lands and piston skirting BUT it doesnt seem to be working

read about the problems here with the wiseco's, starts off good but towards the end of the thread it gets ugly. seems they arent lasting.
