Default question... did I screw up my car???

I have a 99 civic coupe and yes i am a bit of a ricer. I currently have a black widow front bumper on it. I bought a r34 bumper for it and it didnt fit right. The reason it didnt fit was because of the actual steel bumper behind the bumper cover. Basically (if you dont know) the actual bumper is like a long square cylinder that is bolted and welded to the frame. Well the corners of that square cylinder are bent in (from the factory). The way it was I couldnt get the aftermarket bumper on. So i took a sawzall and cut the edges about 7 or 8 inches on each side off. ---Now not the entire square just the front half.--- I have a friend who says that i have screwed up the frame of the vehicle and the car may start sagging or maybe even falling apart. IS THAT TRUE? Somebody please help me out...

no it is not true. You could remove it completely and it wouldnt hurt your car, but it is against the law.

I was told that becuase hondas dont really have a frame like old cars that that is part of the main support for the vehicle, and that i need to re-weld something in its place or the whole front end could start to sag... I hope your'e right. Any body else want to throw their two cents in?
