Question Painting Valve Cover?

I have a '86 Honda Prelude Si and the valve cover is all oxidized and I'd like to paint it. Can anyone give me the steps to doing this? Do you think it's something I can handle myself?

rustolum if your useing sprypaint i love mine and does not fade or chip
