timing belt

Default timing belt

I just put a new timing belt in my b16, I turned the car on and it runs like shit. I pulled the spark plugs and found oil on all 4 of them. I hope I didnt f it up.

When you changed it, were you at TDC? Did you re-tighten the belt tensioner?

the cam gear arrows were both pointing up and the arrow on the crankshaft gear was pointing towards the arrow on the block

Oil on the plugs isn't necesarily a bad thing, it depends on where the oil is. If it's on the actual firing surface you could have big problems. A little oil on the neck/porcelain or threads is indicative of bad valve cover gaskets.

Did you check timing?

its were the threads of the spark plug is, i dont understand why it would do that. my valve cover gasket is a little messed up.

heheheh when you put the valve cover back on did you put back on the sparkplug tubeseals?

+1 on the tube seals i was having the same problem but i picked up a complete valve cover gasket set from napa and havent had problems yet

I would check the pug seals, then pull out the timing light, and time shit up.

After you set timing did you roll the motor over twice and recheck?
