it all depends, a B16 is very very similar to the ITR in ways of design, shape, volume, and flow, they are almost identical.

the gsR is slightly different from both of them, it will yield you more power directly after the swap because the gsR yields higher compression. but i have always heard of people saying they dont flow as much.

there is of course contradicting sites with different flow numbers for both of the heads, anywhere from RLS,portflow, alaniz,JG

hope this helps

my comment on a ls block with b16 head equaling a ls vtec is when it is correctly built is that I <3 the torque it puts out.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

if you just plop the head on, you won't get that big of a gain in power. i say go balls to the wall w/ the b16, cams, cam gears, valvetrain, portpolish...and make some real power.

I would use a b16 head. I feel they make more power than the gsr. also LS pistons have smaller valve pockets on the intake side. the LS intake valve is 2mm smaller than the vtec valve. this leads to valve clearence problems if stock cams are not used. using b16a pistons in the LS block work VERY nicely. no mods needed. they drop rite in.
