I have a '86 Honda Prelude Si. I've been having trouble with the bottom pulley(not compressor pulley) on my engine coming loose. That in turn makes my belt come off my alternator... I've tightened it many times and thread-locked it also. After a mile or two going down the road it is loose again.

I've done this like three times and cant seem to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

 

what pulley ? the tensioner ? if your crank pulley is loose you have an issue. If its your tensioner replace it. 88 ludes i think have a spring loaded tensioner if not tighten the accessory its driving.

 

if it is the crank pulley, use an impact gun. it won't come loose again.

 

I dont know which pulley it is. I know there's 2 on the engine... A top one & a bottom one that also has a spot for the compressor & power steering. The bottom one in the pulley that keeps coming loose.

I guess it's the biggest pulley on the car. I dont have an impact wrench.

 

I suggest you find one, because thats the only was to get enough torque on it unless you have the tool that gos into the pulley, hex shaped. I know its a bitch, mine flew off at 120 mph when i was racing a vette, it dented my floor board. lol at myself for being lazy.

 

I just looked at it, his crank is cracked. The key groove is all wallered out. Car is in AWESOME shape the motor has some minor issues, someone would benefit from buying this car its almost a collector ! That bolt will never tighten i tried for about 10 minutes and umm no aint gonna work ! PLUS he lives in like BFE i was afraid of getting ass raped by some bubba ! i was skerd but the best road to go drifting around sooooo many corners !
