Default Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge

I have an electric Autometer oil press. gauge and I have had several people tell me not to put it on because they say that the elec. sending unit that goes on the block will snap off (like its common) if you get wheel hop or other drastic vibrations(i.e. hard shifting)? What are your opinions on this, and has anyone heard or had this happen? Than you.

Yes this happends often, but you can mount the sending unit to the fire wall and run a hose to it. This will make it more reliable. KJ is gonig to be putting mine in soon

so how why not run a mechanical oil pressure gauge? pros vs. cons if possible.

Ive got a mechanical gauge, you have to run a line of oil in the cabin, if it were ever to disconnect, you will have hot oil being pumped into the cabin, NOT GOOD.
Also, the mechanical guage is more accurate than the electrical guage.

how can you say that? they are the same in the accuracy, one using a unit and then sends the same signals that a mechanical one would get through a wire via electrical currents...to say that the mechanical is more accurate because it is a direct connection is ridiculous.

actually its not ridiculous. Ive used both style gauges and IMO the electric one is a piece of shit. the mechanical one was so much more responsive to changes in pressure. the mechanical gauge also has a lot broader range from 0-100psi(it actaully raps around the whole gauge as upposed to just the upper portion). you also dont have to worry about sending units going bad and confusing it for an actual loss in oil pressure. as long as u install the gauge correctly with some good steel braided lines you will never have a problem with leaks.

lol beans ....and dave i can't argue with you because you have so much more knowledge than me on this topic. but i still don't believe it, the sensor should do the same thing that the actual guage does, it just converts it via voltage. so any delay would be within miliseconds.. and I would say that the chance of the unit failing is just as likely as the guage failing. but then again i have never run both guages together to see the differences. so ....you win....damnit

EDIT: i have mechanical...but it was only by mistake! i thought it was electrical.
