i'm thinking bout getting this engine for my sedan. will i need to do a obd1 conversion to use this engine? i'll probably just get a vtec controller and run the correct ecu. can i use a 88-91 si tranny as welll? any help appreciated

might as well do the obd 1 conversion, you will have distributor issues if you don't. if you don't want to do it, you can get a one wire conversion done http://zdyne.com/convhome.html . it ends up being about the same price. no real need for a vtec controller just yet, but fields are basic and go for around $100 used on TR. 89-91 si would be primo for you. the 88 is a little different (spline count? can't remember) you need to change the mount under the timing belt to your old one off your stock 4dr motor. get the flywheel resurfaced and a clutch for a 92-95 si. if you plan on nitrous/turbo/sc anytime soon, you may want to get a good clutch (act, clutchmasters, etc.). don't want to tell you what to do, but general overhaul is easier while the motor is out. it is up to you..

with a y7, i think your dist. bolts right up to that head, no issues. you also don't have to hook up VTEC as there is none. convert to multipoint, KJ does this i believe and he is a reputable person at a decent price, not sure if 60-1EK does it. that would be more like just swapping the same shiet you already have. it's newer and probably has less miles on it. with a shitty transmission, it's not going to accelerate well. get the Si reguardless of the motor (y7,y8,z6,zc,d15b,a6), you'll be happier

the MPFI swap is going to *usually* add to your existing harness to compensate for the 2 other injectors and shit. the other way to do this swap is to take your harness out, and put in an Si. what i mean is you WILL have an 'Si' harness either way. you need multipoint to take advantage of any swap (d-,b-,or h-series) in your car. what motor is going in, you confused me 2 posts ago...
