motor id

Question motor id

does anybody know where i can find the motor id for an 86 prelude ? by motor id i mean b16, h22, ect. i need to figure out what fits and what doesnt . if anyone can help i sure would appreciate it

Not sure about the prelude but i think it is the A series engine . it's usually on the left hand side of the engine block ... just like this

thanks i really appreciate the info , you wouldnt hapen to know if any other motors fit the 86 body

i dont think it is a b20. i think it is either a a18 or a BT or ET2(u got me, never heard of those). is it an si? if not u will have a big problem with the motor swap becuase it might be carb(dual sidedraft-dont know what that is either) the whole carb to fi conversion is alot of work. if not, it would still be hard to find an engine that would bolt right in. u might want to try the a20 out of the 89 accord. that should fit nicely without alot of work. not much of an improvement but its a start

it is more than likely a b20a1 b20a3 or a b21 not sure on the last one. you just need to check the block out like stated earlier.

b20's come in 88-91. 84-87 had a differnet engine i believe becuase they are different generations(2nd and 3rd) but then again im not sure and am too lazy to find out. good luck with a swap!
