The infamous b16 high RPM 3rd gear grind.
I want to get this fixed ASAP. I know about GM syncromesh and I'm leaning that way...but I'm also leaning towards replacing the syncro and putting the LS 5th gear in as I'm about to take a trip to Mississippi in about a week and a half. What should I do?
If you can do the work for me (60-1Ek, Bert-O) PM me with a good quote for pulling the tranny, replacing the hub and/or syncro.

do not do the syncro mesh..... its just a waste just get it fixed and then it will not go out...... (i had same 3rd gear grind did the mesh...fixed it for 3 months....now all of my syncros are out...

yeah 60-1ek will not pull your tranny for you, he will rebuild it for a great price if he has time, he is a very busy man these days, he did my tranny, works like a charm

Yea I understand Jason but I don't have time/patience/know how to:
1. pull the tranny (which I have no clue how to do)
2. bring it to you (hitch a ride)
3. pick it up X days later (hitch a ride back)
4. reinstall the tranny
meanwhile I'm stuck without a car. I want to get it done, but I'm not sure how. If I can't drop the car off with you and get it back with the work done, I can't do anything. Decisions decisions decisions....

I'm going to assume you have a 99/00 Si? It's most likely wear on the blocking ring. If you were not turbo you would be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your Zone Office (Honda). That wont happen with a turbo Honda though. I'm sure you could find someone to pull your tranny for a couple bucks so you can bring it over to 60-1EK.

pm cxcivic (neal) or have cronic help you pull the tranny and take it to jason.
