i was told by a mechanic that i bent a rod, would i be able to just get a new rod or new rods to fix the problem?or would i be better of just getting a new motor? thanks-keith

how did he assume it was a betn rod?how did you assume your motor was messed up what happened?what all does it do when you start it? does it smoke?

 

i think mechanic is trying to rip you a new one.....

 

A bent rod is easy to diagnose, don't dog on the mechanic yet guys. You use a tool that screws into the spark plug hole and it measures how high the piston comes when at TDC.

 

ok thanks for the helpfull info but the last time i drove it i drove from the store where it started making loud knocking noises and let it sit for a while to see if i might stop but it didnt. it just kept knocking, it dosent smoke as far as i remember but it hasent been started in like 5-7 months due to me being in ct, until yesterday.i tried starting it yesterday but the battrey was dead so i tryed to jump it but the damn thing wouldnt start but it was turning over but not starting so i dont know i need all the hepl i can get so thanks in advace for any info.thanks-keith
