the very most important thing is to make sure you drill the holes srtaight!!!! it's kinda hard if the motor's in the car, but if it is ya need to get the motor high enough to get a good straight shot!
next when using the tap make sure ya oil it and dont force it! just turn it 3/4 to 1 1/2 turn then back up 1/2 turn or so to clear out the filings, then go on in a lil further and keep backing it out a lil each time. i use an air line to blow out the filings after each couple of turns. just take your time! when installing the coil just use the tool and run it in till ya have the last threads just inside the hole. hopefully ya drilled n tapped the holes pretty close to the right depth for the helicoil. it wont hurt if it's in a lil bit deeper though. helicoils work great ! i've put in hundreds! lol with all the guys around here strippin out bolts all the time, thank god we got em!!!! lol just take your time and do a good job!

I would do it whatever way enabled me to get enough space for a clean drilling. Like ugly86integra said, the most important thing is to drill a straight hole. When tapping you don't have to be as concerned as the tap will right itself as it enters the hole. Also, as ugly86integra said above, make sure you blow out the hole after drilling. Chances are you're drilling/taping a blind hole and you don't want to pack it with filings. Be liberal on the tap oil as well (can be found at Sears or other tools shops). Good luck.
