Ok First off im embarassed to say this but I've been ripped off so many times with shit for cars. I'm a big impulse buyer. I've been sold a b16 longblock for way to much money (I sold for a almost a quarter of what i paid for) and some other shit. But the worst one so far was a "JDM" b16a I was sold recently. The motor appeared to be fine. i was completly lied to and to make a long story short, the motor turned out to be fucked up. I'm really frustraited to the point where i want to give up on tryin to build a quick, clean car. I'm not going to give up though, I've spent about $4300 all together over 3 years. YES I'm a fucking idiot. But now i could use some advice. i desperately need. what set-up should i go with? What should i do before making the decision to buy it? and what kinda things should i look at/for when checking out a motor. Who can I really trust?

Second.... I finally have money again and I want to try and buy one more motor and finish that part of my car at least.
I dont want to do anything that requires to much modification. heres some swaps im considering:
1. JDM d15b VTEC, with a nice turbo set-up. I like "slammd sol's" set-up.
2. LS/b20 turbo
3. d15b7 turbo
4. d16z6 or y8 turbo

My goal is 220whp . The most ill spend is $2500-3000. I'm ready to stop being stubburn and wait. Which one of these swaps is the way to go for my budget, and my goals?

I'm with you man, Been ripped off on motors a few times now. If it we're me I would take the oil pan off, and check the rods, and make sure that there is no visible play with the rods. Take the valve cover off and make sure the cams and lifters and suck are all in one peice, and all there. Take off the head, and make sure the valves seat well, and that they haven't been touching the pistons.


I rather get new gaskets, then a whole new motor.

Well right now JNLIMPORTS has the motor, he could tell you what was wrong with it.

3rd cyl had absolutly no bearing left in it as well as scared cam journels.

not to mention the head gasket was put on upside down and there where bolts missing int he pressure plate.

i would say a 10 year old kid built this engine.

what car is it going into?? I feel you about being ripped off before in the past because of lack of knowledge......it comes with experience IM guessin.......happened to me too man and prolly alot of other ppl on this site

if its goin in the hacth y dont you go with a nice GSR swap in the hatch and put it on the bottle? do some fuel upgrades and put a 75 shot wet or dry on it...it would put you easily into the 12's I think
