Default ls rods in d series block

is this possible? if so does it throw the ratio off alot? just thinking these rods (if they fit) would offer strength in a boosted d series? then again i could be really wrong and look like a fool for posting this. let me know guys.

yea they fit, not sure what it does to rod/stroke ratio and you need a bushing kit to put them in....IMO i say just fork out the money for some eagle rods.

they will only fit in a d16 and you have to cut a notch out of the bottom of the sleave.

I asked the same question on H-T. They told me that a machine shop would have to do a little work, but I should use B-16 rods, if not aftermarkets. The B16 are stronger, but I'm sure the LS rods are stronger than D16 rods...

My next set-up will be a LS/B16 rod with a D16z6/aftermarket piston.

LS rods are the same length as D16 rods (137mm). your rod ratio will be unaffected.

B16 rods are too long. the LS rods are stronger than D16 rods.

i've never head of b16 rods going into a d16 block.

yea the ls are the same and a bit stronger. if you are staying under 200 hp (aren't they rated at that?) you are good to go with the d16 rods.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

well as the crank shaft turns and pushes the rod up it will hit on the bottom of the sleeve because it is thicker or wider however you want to look at it. so to make sure it doesn't hit you have to cut a notch or file a notch on the bottom of the sleeve for it to work.

If you can, use the D16 rod. The LS rod maybe stronger, but its also heavier.

Re-balencing is a must.

I'd take a properly tuned D16 to 250hp without too much worry, but anything over that, and I'd have a "back-up plan" ready.

I'd trust the LS rods for over 300hp.

Really I think the D16s have a problem with breaking pistion rings or pistons. broken rods are more a " untuned propblem " IMO.
