Driveshaft.com stage 2 (300hp). I ran 22x8 slicks for a year and never broke one with 300whp. I have made a few passes on them with 24.5x8 slicks with over 500whp and have not broke them but they were spinning badly.

Not at all. Basically there are several things that can break an axle. At the track or street(mostly track) if you "dead hook" (no wheelspin) then you will break an axle. The most comon thing is "wheel hop". All of the vibration from that just kills them. The only way to eliminate that is to add traction bars or have a good set of struts(Koni). It really depends on the driver too. If you know what breaks them then you can try to avoid it.
