well i was looking at some higher compression pistions like usdm type r , there not that bad, but would i have to change my valve springs ?

no your motor will like the typeR pistons while your heads off get some dualvalve springs like Itr or anydual

a well done suspension will net more speed on a road course or autocross than ANY engine mod. (especially with autocross, where power is even less significant than road racing/solo1)
