I am thinking about replacing the alarm on my crx with a newer system.

I currently have a viper 800esp and want to get a 2 way system with the lcd remote.

I am partial to dei products but I want to know what else is out there that is good and what I need to avoid.

I am doing the install myself since I have yet to find a stereo/alarm shop that is worth a shit. so please don't reccomend a shop for install, to find a product ok but no install, they ALL suck. Buzz off installs worse than 4 year old, and can't figure out the problem is a loose screw. and 2 shops in brandon that I have been to are even worse, one being the car stereo shop, they can't install an alarm and accessories with the instructions in front of them without frying at least 2 of the units. (sorry rant over)

back on topic, I have heard auto page is good, and I know viper is.

I need something that can controll at least 5 added accessories.

 

As an installer i can verify that buzz off sucks.... Also i would never let anything touch my car besides viper (aka dei, they are really all the same just marketed differently) I have a bunch of experience installing two ways, if you need any help don't hesitate to get in touch with me I can guide you through it, or set you in the right direction.

 

cool thanks, I am pretty comfortable with most of the stuff. and so long as I have a wiring schematic for the car I don't have to hope and poke, I can figure it out exactly before I touch any wires. plus I tend to do more than basic install so Many times I have to install an extra led or diode for a custom setup. I.E. Push 1 button and all windows and sunroof close on an express feature.

I have looked up the auto page units and there don't seem to be any bad reviews for them. the system I am looking at is the RS855lcd. the comparable dei is the viper 791xv. the difference is $70. but I am kinda leaning that way anyway cause I know dei.

Oh one thing I may need to hit you up for is if you can hook me up with the install guide. the dei web page used to let me download the owners manual and the install guide, but now its just the owners guide, and eventhough the back of the brain tells you what each wire is for, it doesn't cover in full.

i have an auto page, i like it alot....their instructions were horrible, i had to bring it to a shop eventually, so just keep that in mind if you are doing it yourself and decide to go with auto page.

 

dude for 70 bucks its worth it go dei always....and yeah i think i have a few extra books somewhere around here i'll let you know if i come across it

Civic chic: what about the instructions sucked? were the wiring diagrams colorcoded screwy or just not enough info? thanks

 

well the wires were color-coded correctly but there wasnt enough info...it was like a 1/2 page w/ the wire colors and a diagram of how the box needed to be set up, but the actual written instuctions lacked important info to make EVERYTHING work properly....my brother tried installing it, he had done a bunch and had no problem but he never did an Auto Page and it was a mess....i ended up taking it to a shop and they installed it. I dont know the model of the one I got but it isnt anything special, just a simple keyless entry alarm so if you are looking at one that has alot of gagets on it and want to do it yourself, try getting someone whos put one in successfully to help you out.
