power steering rack???

power steering rack???
My power steering rack boot is torn and is causing a squeaking noise when i reverse and my steering wheel shakes. Do i have to replace the entire power steering rack and pinion or can i just replace the boot???

If you do need a rack, I have one. But I would think that you could replace the boot. But the shaking and sqeaking might indicate a bigger problem.

You can just replace the boot, but the minute the joints in the rack get dirty in them, its time for a rack rebuild.
You are best off buying a used rack.
Concerning shaking, that sounds like an alighnment issue.

How much you looking to sell your's for? I'll prob just try to replace the boot, but it sounds like i most likely will end up getting a rack anyways. Thanks for the input! My alignment is off and i need new tires so thats prob why it's shaking.
