Default sleeving the block??

should i or shouldnt i sleeve my H22? i 've got a "semi" closed deck H22, i'm going to boost it , and i'm lookin to get about 450-500 to the wheels , but a few people told me to sleeve it but the guy at the machine shop told me i would be alright not sleeving it , i want to sleeve it for a kinda "insurance" reason so i dont really have to worry about the block , but i also would rather spend the money else where...juss was curious about some peoples opinions...?

Sleeve it. Don't think twice. Your power goals will go up from 500 trust me.

Just as 60-1 said, once you have hit your goal, you are no longer satisfied with it, you just get used to it and want more... Its like liquor... Every time you drink, it takes just a little more to put you where you want to be... This shit is addicting, and all you will ever want is more more more, until you just cant go any further...

Besides, where your goal is now, I would reccomend it anyway... I say anything over 400whp, you should sleeve it... Ive seen 500 on stock sleeves, BUT, the fear you have of "when will it pop" SUCKS... Trust me!!!! Just sleeve it with a good piston and rod combo, and never have to worry about that dreaded drop in oil pressure that comes right after that loud pop...

+1 the sleeves suck on h22's, if you go with forged pistons you will have to sleeve the block unless you get the weisco's that are coated.

read this link, it will greatly help you make your decision(read the whole thread). it also has links to honda-tech that provide good info.

https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...ghlight=weisco

some people have good luck with the weisco pistons, like silverac on TR. he has a turbo h22 in his acura cl and has put 20k miles on the engine with them. but alot of people have problems after a few thousand miles. if i was you, i would sleeve just for the "insurance" you are talking about. its better to be safe than sorry, and costing yourself more money in the long run.

sleeve it and not worry about it. having to worry about your engine going boom is not a good feeling. do it right and save your nerves.
