Default intake pipe painting

I was wondering if a high temp paint would work on a ss intake pipe instead of powdercoating, just want to keep the cost down and it is only a 8 inch section of 2 1/4" pipe with a hks bov flange.
if powdercoating is cheap let me know where. thanks
