i have a 94 delsol si (single cam) and i have a grayish smoke coming out my exhaust in the higher rpms. i had it checked out and the motor is in good shape. so the only thing i thought it could be was that im runing rich. does and body know why i would be runing rich or if im not what else could it be.

you're not running rich. do me a favor and start the motor and let it idle for like 5 minutes, then rev the motor. if its really smokey, then you need new valve seals. my friends si did this and needed this done, and only did it when he would rip on it, but when his car sat and idled for a bit, it would smoke off of idle. tell me whut happens in a pm

 

if im not mistaken white or blue smoke is usually valve seals or rings. blackish or greyish smoke is running rich or not burning it all who knows lol

fuckit richer is better let it be. little smoke never hurt anyone.

lol, yea, dammit i always leave shit out...that motor (sohc zc motor) (yes sohc) was boosted, and it needed new piston rings too, but i dont think your poblem is with rings. he never got it fixed, he sold the car and then that kid re-boosted it. last i heard the kid was gonna rebuild the motor, ill find out how much, but i think if you take it a shop, they'll charge you out the ass for labor.

 

hey dude, got those prices, well of course you'll need a new head gasket, so we'll $50-$150, depending if you get an o.k. one, or if u get a high tech one filled with 30 types of metal. round $30 for valve stem seals. and money for labor, but i dunno how much...it might be a simple job that you can do or simple enough that they wont charge u an ass load for labor, or they might charge you a bunch for labor because they're doing "headwork". i really dont know, call a good shop and have them give you an estimate. just tell them that you need new vlalve stem seals put in, dont say anything about the smokie exhaust, cuz then they'll want to tear your motor apart (hopefully not). does anybody have experience changing these out?

 

i had a leakdown before i put the post up and i had good compresion on all cylenders so i know its not my rings or my head gasket. i do have carbon buildup in my bumper so im perty sure that im runin rich but i was just wanting to know if any one knew why i would be runin rich.
