anyone using an oil cooler on the honda/acura
just like the title says, i was wondering if anyone is using an aftermarket radiator style oil coole ron thier honda acura.
maybe someone can come up with a nice short little parts list to create EL home-made-o oil cooler deal, pics would be nice as well

I advise against this, as dirty oil can build up into a sludge in the cooler, and ultimately restrict the flow of oil, as well as dirty up the clean oil.... Its also just a great place for dirty oil to sit, so when you do an oil change, you just mix that dirty oil with the new oil....
Its up to you tho man, just lookin out....

but keep in mind, when you change your oil, dirty oil remains in the cooler, unless you completely remove the cooler.....

Well its not like your engine drains competly during an oil change
Lots of cars and trucks use external oil coolers and go long miles with no troubles. I personally plan to run one when I get more into road coursing
Though you dont want your oil to get too cool too. So make sure you size good.

well if u do u can use a stock auto radiator that has the tranny oil cooler on it. but that if u want to, i did it for turbo and didnt have no problem, but they r right boutr the dirt. it can build up after a while. but thats ur choice

You could probably mount the oil cooler so the oil is gravity fed out durring an oil change, if you're THAT worried about it.
It's not a bad idea, any stock oil cooler can work well. Just becareful about lowering the oil pressure of the motor with long oil lines.

i had a Rx7 i think it was or supra oil cooler on mine when i first built my b16 a while ago when i put ac in the car it was a front mounted oil cooler like a tiny innercooler it worked very well took a extra 2Qts of oil had it on there 6months when took off it was clean as day i put it on never thought about it lowering pressure but it most have with my many feet of hose but never hurt anything if you need it you can have it i dont have the hoses or fittings anymore tho
