Default ?Whats the best head gasket?

Just wondering whats the best head gasket. I need a new one and i wanted to get the best one. Posssibly a thin one to raise my compression a little bit.

OEM would be best. get an OEM and have the middle layer removed.

How hard is it to take out the middle layer?

i know it can be done, but i do not know the process. it's easy with the right tools. i'm sure mtber will chime in soon.

All you have to do is remove the 4 copper holding rings with a pair of dikes or needle nose. Discard them as they will not be used. remove the center layer and spray the outer layers front and back with spray copper coat (Permatex). Put dowel pins in block and set each peice in. Make sure you have the gasket turned upright, as it is easier to put it on wrong when missing the middle layer because the word "up" on the gasket is not as visible.

be careful not to scratch or mar the gasket, if you do, get a new gasket.
