Camber Kit Install ?
I got a front camber kit for my prelude SH that replaces the ball joint in the upper control arm (OBX). Does anyone know if I have to have the adjustable ball joint machine pressed in once I get the stock ones out. Thx
I know how to adjust them once they are installed, my question is regarding the install. I don't want to take the old ball joints out only to find that the new ones have to be machine pressed in. Then I'll have to have the lude towed to a place to have the new adjustable joints pressed in.
Actually you do have to have the new joints pressed in, I found out the hard way. Also, dont drop the steering knucle further than the ABS sensor will let you, the inboard knuckle of the cv joint tends to pop out (also found ouy the hard way). Props to mike's driveline shop...rebuilt the axels in an hour!
i found out the hard way about the prelude as well, i thought it would be the same as my accord because alot of shit is the same on both cars. i've lowered about 10-15 cars, and a prelude was the only car to give me shit. the cv joint poped out on both sides.
anyway, when i lowered my friends prelude he got the ingalls camber kit. i dont know if you have the same kind or not. i just took off the stock joints on each side of the upper control arm and put the new adjustable ones in, no press required.

if this is the type of front camber kit that you have, then you dont need a press.

This is the internet. You're just supposed to talk up whatever you do know as if you're a salesman for it. i.e. I drive a Supra and a Corolla therefore 2JZ is the greatest and so is the 4A and I don't care about anything else because it's all crap since I don't have it. I also have a stack of $20 bills in front of me, therefore 20>50 and 20>100 and 20>1000. $20 bill FTW.
My front camber kit was different, it replaced the actual ball joints in the upper control arm so they did have to be pressed in. My rear kit was the same as the one in the pic, which was an easy install. The cv joints on the SH were a bitch too b/c the drivers side axel inserts into the atts unit instread of the tranny.
you talking about the joint on the front of the uppercontrol arm? the one that has a castle nut under it holding it together?

Yes, the ball joint at the apex of the upper control arm. I had to take the upper control arm off and have old ball joint pressed out and the new adjustable ball joint pressed in. On the adjustable joint there is a bolt at the top that allows for camber adjustment (+1 to -3.5 dsegrees).
