Default Want to go NA, got some quesions...

I want to build the motor in my LS up some and Ive been thinking about changing the pistons out for a higher compression.

Now, what I was planning is changing the LS pistons out for some p30 B16A pistons. That and a 2 layer head gasket should yield me 11.2:1 compression. If I used a single layer gasket I could get 11.5:1.

But now I have some friends who tell me that I can use the pct pistons from a CTR and get even higher compression. But they warn me of valve clearance issues, especially with cam choices.

To me it seems like it would be simpler to go with the p30's and the 2 layer gasket. It doesnt seem to me like valve clearance is a problem with that setup so long as I dont use a radical cam profile or anything.

I havent picked out, planned, or even looked at cams yet so I dont know what I would do in that department.

So, Honda guru's, let me know what you guys think of what I am thinking.

Stay at 11.5:1 or under 12:1 c/r

pct's will be fine for most cams, you just might have to clay your motor depending on your cams to figure out how much clearance your dealing with.

I recommend a gsr/b16/itr or 2000 crv oil & water pump & timing belt. I also recommend arp rod bolts professionally installed by arp specs...

You will have to have your machine shop mill 1mm from each side of your pct or p30 pistons to fit your ls rods.

Also they will have to install & strech your arp rod bolts along with hone your cylinder walls.

Honestly if you plan on going into it this much, I would purchase a b16 head & build an ls/vtec setup

Good Luck.
