ok, my friend has a 91 teg ls, with a ys1 LS cable tranny, well when he downshifts the tranny makes a weird ass noise, and at high rpms it wont let u downshift into certian gears, it feels like it has that guard on it liek 1st gear has, and it makes the winding noise like when u try to force it in 1st at 80mph lol, we cant figure this shit out to save our lives, and its pissin me off, figure someone on here would know.. is it time for a new tranny or a rebuild? or is it somethin stupid?

 

is it a whining noise or a clicking noise? sounds like syncros.

 

whining noise, like the 1st gear guard thing...

like its really hard to downshift too, and no matter what rpm if u dont slam it, it doesnt grind, so thats why i dont think its the synchro's... well im gonna eat dinner, ill check again when i get back...

 

dunno, if it's hard to put in gear, something's not right, is the gear oil topped off?

mine is out of my crx, its perfect, lots of ppl on here have driven mine, i jus want short gears for the ls in my rex, itll feel like a damn monster with short gears.. LOL

 

think i may have found the problem...

the cap on top where u put the gear oil in is missing, so it could jus be squirting it out, he said when it topped it off, he used "gunk" brand gear oil 20w50 and filled it to the top while the car was in 1st gear, so tomorrow we are putting some lucus in it, and some fresh gear oil, while the car is in neutral and making a home made cap, and seeing if that will work... hope it does, if not, it probably needs a rebuild..

or ill sell him mine for 400 muhahaha, ya gotta love me matt!!!
