Default make my own intake

hey just had an idea my brother has this intake for his celica. has had it for quite some time and its still in the box so i think im going to take it and use the air filter now ive seen some pvc intakes and they seem to work well. they dont get hot on the inside from what i hear. i think i might do this to save some money. what im wondering is if any of you guys have had bad experiences with pvc intakes or what?

mine came loose and somehow found its way into my radiator fan, it was actually pretty cool, but it burned my fan out and i had to cruise with just the filter shoved onto the tb for a week until i decided to fix it....i dont know if i had any difference in hp after switching to my crappy short ram from the crappy pvc...

bro seriously, spend the $30 off ebay and get a real short ram, or spend 50 and get a cold air....why make your own? ive heard the plastic dries out and chips apart and the pieces end up in your motor....is it worth the risk?

you realize that the ebay intakes are usually plastic right? just checking. anyways, pvc'll get'rdun but i'd rather just buy a REAL intake not ebay or anything like that...

PVC will work just as well as the AEM intake. My friends low 13s hatch proves that. He's tried both with the same times.

actually, i wont brag about my days with the pvc intake, but i do know that pvc is very stong and as long as you make a nice clean cut and clean out the pipe before you cement/clamp it you should be cool...you will just look rather dumb IF you actually pop your hood...but who cares right?
