Default Vehicle speed sensor

Does anyone have a VSS for a B16 that I can use to test if that truely is the problem with my car. It keeps throwing code 17 and the CEL comes on during decelleration in a gear. Also VTEC is not activating and around 70 mph the car shuts down like it has hit it's speed limiter. But this is intermitten. Don't want to speed money if it is actually something else.

there is a difference, the mechanical uses a speedo cable from trans to gauge and wire to ecu.....the elec. uses wires from trans to gauge to ecu...does your speedo work? have you made any modifications to your gauge cluster recently....and also what car is this motor in?

It is an electrical VSS. I have pulled it out to look at it and put it back in. Everything on it looks good. The speedometer is working fine. I have a JDM B16 in the car. It only throws the code when I'm decelerating in gear to a low RPM. And every now and then when I'm just crusing. Around 70 mph the car will shut down for a second while the speed drops and then kicks back on. But if I hard accelerate past 70 mph this doesn't happen.

It is a possibility but very little water got in the ecu. It mainly puddled up in the plug. I would also think if it was the ecu it would be more than an intermitten problem. The car runs great and idles perfect.
