Question Shifter

WTF would allow a shifter to move all the way from left to right even when it's in gear. This tool says that it's a Si shifter mated to a 5 speed mystery tranny, don't really know what it came out of. Is it that the shifter is busted or not installed right?

I love completing other people's abandoned projects?

Okay, you know how when you're not sure what gear you're in or if you're in neutral you wiggle the shifter? Well, first of all you never know which gear is where, there is no fucking pattern, it's almost impossible to find 1 & 2 gear, and evetually when I do find the right gear, and it's engaged the shifter can be moved all the way from the spaces in between 1 &2 and 5 & reverse?!?!?!?

There is nothing causing the shifter to return to the space in between the 3 & 4 gear, when in neutral.

A friend of mine purchased an ef w/ a b16 swap that was doing this. End result was that the bolt/nut that the kid was using as a shift linkage pin was allowing play in the shift linkage...

Make sure you have a properly installed OEM shift linkage pin.

That's probably it! The car was converted from auto to manual, and was probably half ass done.

THANX!!!
