runnin hot
runnin hot
so i got a 92 civic dx sedan (1.5 sohc)...108xxx and the thing is runnin hot... i took out the thermo... i rigged my fan to run when the car is on... just got a new timing belt (it needed it) and new water pump (just in case)... flushed the 1 yr old rad. a month ago... it still will run hot! i sit in front of my house and start it... rev it to 3k and hold it it'll sit for alil while, get up to normal running temp, then after about 8 min the thermo starts creepin up and just keeps goin... i back off the rpm's it keeps goin... it doesn't come down unless i shut it off and let it sit... it's pissin me off!! what else could it be? i'm stumped... i'm gonna have it flow tested to see if there's a blockage in the rad. or the block but i don't think there is... any ideas anybody?
If you aren't losing water, then there is probably a blockage. Either that or something isn't lubed right and is causing too much heat for your cooling system to handle.

it was in fact running hot before i took out the thermostat. my dad and i were discussing it and we're pretty sure the flowtest will show the problem because it never ran hot before we flushed the radiator about two months ago. and maybe doing that we made something move around inside the radiator... i'm having it flowtested on sat to find out for sure. thank you guys for helping out

where do you live at? what part of town? check the hoses in the back and make sure that there is no clog between the heater box and the head. also there is a tube along the back of the block its meatal sometimes those get clogged up too. turn your heater on and see if it still over heats.
