Default my setup.....and your opinions

Just wanted to hear some educated opinions on my future setup that im going to do in the next week....Im in the process of ordering parts and b4 i order everything i just want hear what others have to say... My main concern is if the bottem end is built enough and if the compression is high enough? Setup:

1998 ITR
JDM ITR Pistons
Eagle Rods w/ new bearings and bolts and etc.
Spoon 2 ply h.g. if necessary if not oem 3 ply
AEM Intake
JDM 4-1 Header
Apex-i Exhaust w/ test pipe
JUN III's
JUN Valvesprings
Portflow retainers
Kenji chipped P28 ECU(will be going hondata as soon as some more$$$)
Head is going to be getting machined and P&P and 3 angle valve with new valve seals.
9lb flywheel and oem clutch if o.k

Let me know what everybody thinks.......

Use OEM USDM itr rods.
The eagle rods will NOT work with JDM itr pistons.

Oem Pistons & Rods are great for 81-81.5mm n/a applications.

If you don't already own the Apexi exhaust system do some reasearch, you might want to go with a better system

I would do more research on cams before going to JUN III's

I recommend an Exedy street strip clutch.

why dont you go a little higher on the compression. 12:1 or so with some Endyn pistons? of course depending on piston to valve clearance.
I would also do some ARP head bolts.
You could also buy my header DC Race 4-1, much better than the JDM 4-1.
you will also want to think about larger injectors (prelude 91-96).
You will also need a FPR most likely.

JUN 3's are fantastic, I used them for about 2 years.

I have done the setup you are doing so if you have any questions you can email me if you want.

The Apex-i exhaust is on the car...for now. I was under the impression that ctr's wouldn't fit on the eagle rods but not ITR's(shit), u r sure about this(not questioning your intelligence just want to be sure!) And as far as the cams i've done alot of research and these are definatley the cams and springs i'm gonna use. My itr clutch is brand new so i'm going to use for a little while...any more opinions....

with the jdm pistons, 2 ply headgasket and getting the head machined i should be just under 12.0, high 11's...Is it necessary to have that high, i have ctrs in thier now with the 2 ply and the compression is 260 across and its just too much..?

Personally I have not heard great things about Eagle lately.

ARP is a good choice, they have withstood my high compression application so far.

OEM for your application is not bad either, you can streghten up the rods through various steps.

I know the JDM header causes clearance issues on a CRX not sure about your Integra.

Have you considered a 5 angle valve job for better flow? This is what is done to the Type R valves.

When ordering you bearings be very specific about the year of the car the block is from <-- this was my initial mistake.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

not always the best idea to mix and match titanium retainers and valve springs. if they dont fit just right they will gaul on you and wear very very fast, just get the portflow retainers and springs, or the JUN retainers and springs.

as for eagle yeah there was some bad stuff floating around but people tend to hop on the bad stuff good stuff bandwagin to quik. they had some isseues with improper install and some rod bolt issues but they switched to arp's now so i wouldnt be concerned

first off there is nothing wrong with eagle rods so dont let that determine your decision on which rod to use. also eagle rods along with pretty much every other aftermarket rod use a free floating wrist pin that requires C clips to hold the pin in place in the piston, the factory piston doesnt have a grove for these clips. so id say either go all OEM or all aftermarket. the factory rods are plenty strong for anything under 300whp which obviously isnt your goal unless u plan on spraying the shit out of it. also ARP headstuds are obviously stronger than OEM bolts but for a moderate all motor application like yours theyre really not necessary. obviously its always good to overbuild a motor but there are just somethings that arent gonna do a damn thing besides make your wallet lighter

oh yea......ditch the oem clutch
