Default good header

my friend has a 99 civic coupe witha fully built ls vtec. bored over forged pistons rings, skunk2 cams, hondata all tuned by secret services, titanium valves, springs and lifters, and some other stuff and it only dynoed at 196 whp. well he wasnt very impressed after spending all the $$ but he has a simular to dc type r header and hes heard they suck. what is a good header to use and will the header really make a big difference. he also just ordered a ported head with a 5 angle job and all that good stuff. got any ideas to make more hp without going turbo or sc because he running high compression.

dc sports 4-1 JDM itr replica header is not all that bad.
That header makes good power for the money...

If he wants a better header, SMSP, Toda etc...
Check the titanmotorsports great header test at:
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=699674

A good flowing exhaust will help the header also.

The DC 4-1 JDM header is by far the best bang for the buck. But the best will steal your wallet.

Hytech, by far is the best. But you will pay alot. I've seen and witness alot of headers in the past, both mild to wild B-series motors. But it all boils down to what the motor wants too.

But if your making 196hp, or in the upper 190s all motor on standard 81mm bore (or 81.25 oversized), those numbers are perfect.

Now ifs its a 85mm bore LS block, whoa...............then there's something not right there.

need a better description of the setup but like bert-o said if its 195 on stock bore than hes doing ok ,84mm + and he may need to look at his part list. i would say get the header i have (pic in gallery) but they are going through some changes.there is some good headers in the 600-800 range but some dont allow a/c some do just need to search. the link above is good but there is other headers out there,

Headers save about 20hp on stock small block chevy 350's. Obviously the more air you are moving(displacement) the more the effect your header will have so I would assume ANY header on your engine will give MAYBE 10hp, but probably more like 5hp vs some other kind of header.

Just curious, whats the displacement on that engine?
