Don't waste your time on building a single cam, Unless your going to boost it or spray a 150 shot on it.. don't put any money into it, you'll be better just putting a ls in it or something.. but hey do what you please.. -Ben

Default hey

I know that I can go with a B series swap, but I am trying to do something different. I've seen on TR where people say that they have single cams running around 12 seconds, and I am trying to soup my car up so that it can do around 12 seconds also. I know that I'll probably have to use turbo or NOS to do so, but I would like to know the things that I need to do in order to builld up the engine so that I can see how fast I can go "all motor" before adding turbo or NOS to my car. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. My goal is 11 seconds.

Thanks,
Lou

12 seconds in a single cam will be difficult and not cheap.

are you kidding? if the sohc is in a coupe maby but a single cam
in a light hatch with say a 75 shot i,h,e,fuel pump and fpr
and some slicks im sure you could see 12's.
High 12's but still 12's

I had a friend with a 98 4dr civic with a 75 shot and nothing else just running of a 99 ex exhaust mani no exhaust
on a y7 motor with stock intake mani and it was running a 14.4
so its very possible to get to the 12's with a single cam

12 seconds done correctly will always cost lots of $$$. Dyno time + tuning, fuel upgrades + i/h/e, turbo kit or nitrous (whichever you go with) and engine management.

if you're just going to throw shit together, that's your ass. but expect to spend even more $$$ down the line not just on parts, but downtime which is invaluable IMO. just my .02
