Unhappy well it finaly happend spun rod bearing...

well it has 180k mile's on it and with a 9100red line it was going to happen sooner or later...but at least now I have a little bit of time to fix it...

ya the thing that realy sucks is I have a head I am building for it and I was going to replace the rod bearings and piston ring's but it look's like I will be replaciing them early LOL

Not to high jack ur thread but.. i was wondering how rod bearings go out/bad? Planning on turbo charging my ride with 140,xxx on the stock motor and kinda curious about this.

lots of things could cause them to go bad such as, the crank not being balanced and causing uneven/premature wear, not enough lubrication, heat (heat will kill all).......blah blah blah......etc.....

Ouch...My original dx motor in my old crx did it.had the ballz to keep going for another 30 min.:o

im making a safe bet on the fact that i do 9k+ rpm's on stock internals is what torr it up i have extra part's all over to fix such things

ok she's fixed!!!! it spun 2&3!!!!!:o Owell all's well that ends well and the crank was in great shape but I did replace the main's as well i figuerd will I was there might as well....so yaaaa for me

oil starvation is the #1 cause of spun rod bearing

extreme heat will make oil lose its viscosity therefore depleting its lubrication properties.

spining a motor 9k when it wasnt meant to be spun that high will do that also...mostly because the oil pump wasnt not made to supply oil at that rate

also because the motor isnt balanced to spin that high either causing excessive bearing wear.
